It is known from Anhui Classification Society that, annual shipbuilding capacity has already reached 3.6 million tons at present, become one of a national important inland district for shipbuilding. The scale and level of shipbuilding industry is in steady advancement.

As a large shipping province, Anhui possesses nearly 30000 ships, and total cargo capacity of 21 million tons, both of which ranks the first in China. Recent years, with the implementation of “anhui ship industry restructuring and revitalization plan” and national strategy of “Yangtze River city belt undertaking the industry shift”, shipbuilders sees a better prospect in external shipbuilding enviroment along Yangtze River in Anhui Province, they invest to build ships one after another, and the market is becoming increasingly active.

Zhou Wensheng, director of Wanjiang Classification Society told us that, customers increasingly concern about ship cost, power device and fuel cost of every unit of cargo capacity. From year 2007, vessels built in Anhui province is becoming larger in scale, from 5000DWT offshore bulk carriers at the beginning to 8000DWT, 13000DWT, 16500DWT, 22800DWT vessels, in a steady rise.
